Without the knowledge of anyone but the Society for Human Enlightenment and the Fellowship of the Essentials, for the last two decades the Society has been using particle colliders like those at the Lawrence Berkeley Laboratory and the Aarhus Storage Ring in Denmark to wear away at the boundary between Earth and Hell. As it turns out, every time one set of particles moving near the speed of light crash into another set of particles moving near the speed of light, the collision creates a mini-black hole that sucks up a portion of the quark-gluon plasma barrier encapsulating our dimension.

Thinning and then ripping that barrier will allow demonic beings in Hell direct access to our world. That’s how the Society plans to usher in the Anti-Christ.

As the barrier thinned, demonic influence in our world increased and accounts for the recent surge in mass murder, genocide, rape, incest and the like. The reason demonic activity has been particularly concentrated in the United States is because the Society constructed their own super collider, one even bigger than the collider at CERN, under the Utah/Nevada border. They call it “Wormwood.”

The barrier is at a tipping point, so the Society launches “Breakthrough,” their long planned take over of every major collider in the world. After seizing control, the Society runs each collider along with Wormwood at maximum capacity. As the barrier further thins, odd, destructive energy spikes erupt around the world. A faction of the Fellowship launches a cyber attack on the Society’s collider takeover, while a desperate Fellowship team attacks Wormwood in the midst of a pitched battle between the Nevada National Guard and the rouge Utah National Guard that’s protecting the facility.
Just as the Christmas tree goes up every year, so too do the stories and memories. Celebrating Christmas, Thanksgiving, Kwanzaa, and other holidays is one way to nurture and strengthen the roots of family ties. I enjoy writing stories with a holiday theme because the telling of stories allows us to see the times and places where we are most loved, where we exhibited strength, where God carried us across rocky terrain and where the seeds of hope for the future are planted and nurtured. Every tribe and community has its traditions for celebrating holidays and its own powerful storytelling tradition as well. From these tales come the wisdom and hope that nurtures and guides every people as they form the bridges that successfully link the past to the future through and over the sometimes muddy waters of the present.

I hope that as you read these stories you will be reminded of some of the moments of holiday joy in your own life– even joy that emerged out of messiness, disappointment or brokenness. Reflect on your own holiday traditions. Share the memories and stories with your children. Tell them stories of their ancestors and people. Gently guide them in telling their own stories.

As the popular song says, there are times when we all just “need a little Christmas” in our lives.

This is especially true for children who have experienced bullying, grief, loss or other traumas in life.

This unique coloring book, by nationally known child welfare and trauma expert Sue Badeau and her artist-daughter Chelsea Badeau uses artwork paired with useful strategies to help children learn about and manage big feelings like anger, fear, anxiety and sadness while also experiencing joy in their daily lives.

During a four year period in the early 60’s our Mom died, Grandma (she lived with us) died and then Dad died. There were five of us and we had nothing. As the oldest I had to take charge and the threat of eviction (among other storm clouds) hung over us. My brothers were 13, 10 and six. My sister was 18 and I was 20. We pulled it all together and made it. (Read my book: The Priest and the Peaches, you might enjoy our story).

Years later I was living in Florida. I had come down with MS and the doctor’s advice was to get away from the cold and ice. My wife, (there was a GREAT woman for you. Years earlier, when I had three brothers to take care of she stuck with me. Her folks tried everything to break us up.) Heck, if it was my daughter wanting to marry a “ready-made family” I may have reacted the same way. But it was LOVE—for real! We made it work. Those years taught me much about adversity.

In the early 90’s I joined the St. Vincent de Paul Society. This turned out to be one of the most rewarding experiences in my life. All we did was try our best to help people---“no strings attached”. I loved being able to do that. And that is where the seeds for “Horizon Homeless” sprouted into seedlings and grew into branches and turned into a novel.

One thing I quickly learned while working with SVDP was that the vast majority of people that asked for our assistance were just regular working class folks who had hit, as the saying goes. a “rough patch”. An unexpected layoff, a sudden illness, medications and specialist treatments for “little Johnny or Joanie”, electric power cut off for being two days late with a payment and not having the money to pay the bill plus the “late fee and reconnect fee”. No way to get to work because the car broke down. No work--no pay—no car –no job. No job—no rent money—no roof—and BOOM! You might be living in a non-running car or—under a bridge. The “domino theory” quickly becomes the “Rule” when these things happen and they happen to SO many people---all the time---all over the country.

Horizon Homeless is about Bob and Tracey Slider and their 12 year-old son, Jake. They are a composite of an average American family, doing OK, making ends meet and even having a bit left over. Then Tracey is ‘downsized” and the dominoes start to topple. Before you know it life has turned upside down for the Sliders. It is not far-fetched and it happens every day. Amazingly, people do not even realize it is happening until it has happened. Meet the people who come to St. Vincent de Paul and other organizations like it.

Come and meet Bob, Tracey and Jake Slider, an American family who are hanging on by a thread. To what, you ask? Their very existence, that’s what. Will they make it? How can they? Is there a force that moves them forward through adversity? Or will they become just another ‘homeless” statistic? Slide through the pages of Horizon Homeless” and find out.

Have you ever seen a homeless person and thought, Why don’t they just get a damn job?

Did you stop and think that maybe they had a job and then, through no fault of their own, they lost it.

Is it possible they tried as hard as they could but could not find another job? Did you consider that maybe there was an illness that altered their life? Maybe pain medications prescribed for an unwanted, debilitating injury turned them into a “victim addict”? Maybe they are a vet with a severe case of PTSD? Maybe it is certain type of mental illness? Do you know anything about that person you are looking at? We should remember that before people become homeless, they lived somewhere.

There are millions of people across this great land of ours that are pre-homeless. Please say hello to Bob and Tracey Slider and their son, Jake. They are a composite of so many American families that cover our land from ‘sea to shining sea’. They are among the millions of unnoticed, hardworking, Americans, locked into survival mode while trying their best to do the “right thing” every day. What happens when they are confronted with circumstances which place them on a road heading downward where the horizon up ahead turns homeless?

Can they make the turn and begin heading uphill? What choices will they make? What will determine their success or failure?
Joey insisted he kept seeing and talking to his dad. He had told his brothers and sister and they thought he just did not understand Pops’ passing. But then Beeker and Joey went to stay with Charlie and Eleanor Winters for the summer. They lived on an old farm in the Abadon Forest . But so did the “Darkened”. They did not want Joey anywhere near the Abadon. Why? They feared his innocence.
The Peach kids were city kids and were used to the streets of the Bronx with the noises and smells and everyday hustle and bustle that was part of city life. When Pops died they were officially “orphaned” and Teddy,18, took over as head of the family. Plans had been made by Father Sullivan for the two youngest, Beeker and Joey, to stay with his friends, Charlie and Eleanor Winters, for the summer. Their first night there, a knock on the door introduces them to Jacob Lightfoot, a boy that no one knows anything about. They befriend Jacob and soon discover that his world is surrounded by darkness and evil. A girl named Lily constantly appears to help Jacob as the attacks on him increase. A hundred years have passed and it is time for The Great Festival of Torment to take place again. Unknown to anyone, Jacob is to be the Sacrificium Humani Agnus, (The Sacrificial Human Lamb), an offering honoring Satan. The Peach kids from the city are about to have a most memorable summer in the country.

November is Adoption Awareness Month, and I wanted to share Patti’s adoption story. A story of courage and love.

“Welcome to my world – and what a wonderful journey it’s been. I am so grateful for my life. It has been 59 years since joined my family of destiny. When I say a family of destiny, I mean that all of us have a family of origin, our biological family, and some of us have a family of destiny – that family that takes us in and although we are not biologically connected, we are indeed family in every other sense. So my family of destiny was my adopted mom and dad and my adopted older sister. I grew up San Pedro, the greatest little city in the world and graduated from San Pedro High, Class of 1973.
I learned that I was adopted when my older sister blurted it out during a sisterly argument, “Well, YOU'RE adopted!” I asked my folks if it were true, and they both said, “Yes.” They told me the stork delivered me to the hospital, and they picked me out. Not knowing where babies came from as I was only 6, I just thought everyone was adopted!

I grew up and finally learned where babies came from and what being adopted meant. I wanted to know more about my birth family. Did my birth mother ever think about me? Why did she put me up for adoption? Didn’t she love me enough to keep me? Was she forced to give me up? Did I look like her?

I often thought of my birth parents and my desire to meet my birth mother grew I had my own children. I wanted to SEE her, I wanted to thank her for the gift of life, and I had questions that needed answers! During the 50’s adoptions were closed. That means that any identifying information of the birth parents is not available, including family medical information.
I knew that I may have a long hard road to find my birth parents if I ever did. My adoptive mom was very helpful and provided me the legal documents that finalized my adoption. I saw just two pieces of information. A last name "Baby Longhenry" and the city where my birthmother was born - St. Paul, Minnesota. I prayed for days and then I thought – I should just call 411 – logical first step. I prayed and finally picked up the phone. I called 411 and obtained four numbers of Longhenry's. I called the first number and needed to go no further … the man that answered was my birthmother’s cousin, AND he was that ONLY relative that knew of the birth and adoption. He was the one my birthmother told! I was floored and knew that this was my gift, my miracle from God. He said he would call my birthmother for me right away. I waited, and after two days, my biological mother called me, and I heard her voice for the first time.
Her name was Dotti, and she was living in Spokane Washington. Unable to keep her secret (ME) any longer, she told her family about me and soon was on a plane to meet me. As we shared our lives, she told about the circumstances of my conception and birth. I expected to hear a tragic but romantic love story, but instead I heard the shocking news that she was a victim of rape and could not cope with keeping the child of a rapist, so she gave me up for adoption. My father never knew about me, and she never saw him again. She didn’t go to the police -- she was too ashamed. She never told anyone about the rape except her cousin in Minnesota - the one I called on the phone - with his promise not to tell a soul.

She found herself pregnant and alone. There are those would say a child conceived by rape is disposable, of little value, damaged goods, bad genes. In fact, many people who say they are pro-life except in cases of rape and incest. Many respected members of the Senate and Congress who say they are pro-life carry the same conditions along with some clergy. Praise God my mother didn’t believe in exceptions. She knew in her heart that I was precious to God and that my life had value. It did not matter to her how I was conceived; she only knew she was pregnant with an innocent child
I asked her about how she felt carrying me for nine months. Wasn’t I a constant reminder of what she suffered? Did she resent me? Did she consider aborting me? She said that she was traumatized by the rape, but if there was anything good that could have possibly come from it, it was me. She said when she found out she was pregnant; she knew she loved me. From that violent and traumatic event, she considered something wonderful happened – me! She wanted a healthy baby. She wanted a mother and a father for me, so she gave me to a family and trusted God that I would have a good life, and she always prayed that someday she could meet me. I had thought that I was a burden to her, something to “get rid of, give away.” How wrong I was and I had to face that I had not believed that every baby deserves a birthday. I believe it now. Do you?

Dotti died within two years of our meeting, but I am thankful for the time I was given to get to know that very special woman. I'm thankful that I was able to tell her what a brave, and loving thing she did for me and to tell her how very grateful I am for my life. Members of her family told me that Dotti was not the same after we met. She was at peace; she had more confidence and faith. She was able to finally see and touch me, and meet her grandchildren. Dotti was my miracle, and I was hers!

I can’t honor my birthmother without also honoring my adoptive parents. I don’t know whether they knew the circumstances of my birth, but if they did, they didn’t care. They had a healthy baby girl, and they loved me completely and unconditionally. I had the life every child should have, and my parents taught me by loving example. I think the most important thing they did for me was to bring me up in the church. I went to church every Sunday, including Sunday School. A foundation my mom and dad gave me that has carried me through life – faith in God. He is my strength, my refuge, and my life. I know that there is nothing impossible with God. These Christian values were of the utmost importance to my adoptive parents, and they instilled these values and Christian morals in me.
I thank God each day for the wonderful life I have had. I love to tell people about how much He treasures every life, no matter what the circumstances of conception. I am not my father, nor am I my mother. I am NOT the product of rape! I am me. I was created by a loving God, and my life is valuable. And so is the life of every baby conceived -- of infinite value and a priceless gift from God.”
There are millions of people across this great land of ours that are pre-homeless. Please say hello to Bob and Tracey Slider and their son, Jake.
The Big Blue Marble Bookstore, located at 551 Carpenter Lane in Philadelphia, likes to celebrate local authors and artists and has been honored in Philadelphia Magazine as one of the "Best of Philly" - the magazine says, "Like so much of Mount Airy, Big Blue Marble is well thought-out, community-oriented, and full of unexpected delights."

The Badeaus shared sample coloring pages, read excerpts from their book and encouraged participants to use the practical tools in their book as a way to both prevent stress as well as coping with stress or trauma in their lives. Goodman-Shears will lead a lively discussion on marriage. I must confess though that what attracted me to the book was not only the subject matter but the price on sale of $2. My friends would knowingly say: you can take the Scot out of Scotland…etc. Anyway, I digress. One interesting anecdote in Wiesenthal’s memoirs is the war time story of when he was called to the bedside of a badly wounded SS soldier who had asked to see a Jew before he died. Somewhat puzzled, Wiesenthal listened to the man confess his involvement with the murder of some Ukrainian Jews in August of 1941. Wiesenthal was even more dumbfounded when the man explained that to die in peace he needed a Jew to forgive him. Wiesenthal’s response was to quietly listen to him, then walk away in silence. Later he heard that the soldier had died and bequeathed him his personal effects. The incident troubled Wiesenthal and he agonized over his decision. He even shared it with some acquaintances and celebrities, asking them: what would they have done.

There was a whole gamut of responses ranging from anger and vindictiveness to complete ignorance of how to respond at all to such a request. Some even doubted the veracity of whether the incident happened at all. Others who knew Wiesenthal well, accepted the matter at face value. One interesting response came from fellow Austrian, Franz Cardinal Konig. He explained that Jesus preached that there was no limit to forgiveness. But he deftly remarked that given the horrors that Jews like Wiesenthal had experienced, an explicit pardon would have been “…beyond our concept of the human.” The Cardinal went on to say that the dying soldier clearly believed in God, and Wiesenthal had listened to him and showed him sympathy. The soldier somehow felt accepted or he would never have bequeathed him his personal belongings.

In the “Voice of Aedistamen”, forgiveness is an important theme. In volume 7 of the story, one of characters is introduced who will eventually experience redemption through forgiveness. But the major thrust of the whole book is the faithfulness of the Ghaedesh-Mor, God in the world of Aedistamen, who forgives the unfaithfulness of his people, and brings about their deliverance as they rediscover Him in their time of cruel bondage.

Returning to Wiesenthal’s remorseful soldier, perhaps this young man had some remnant of nobility of spirit that led him to unburden his terrible crimes to a Jew, a representative of the nation he had persecuted. He had the opportunity no doubt to speak to a pastor or priest, but he wanted to do more. I can’t help thinking though, that he spoke to the wrong Jew—no offence intended against Simon Wiesenthal. There is another Jew who is simply beyond the concept of the human. Only He could address the sin done to others Jews; indeed, the sins of the whole world.</b>
When a child is sad, scared or angry, these feelings can often lead to challenging behaviors at home or in the classroom. Parents and other adults in their lives need effective tools to help children manage challenging emotions, re-claim a state of calm and tame difficult behaviors. "Building Bridges of Hope: A Coloring Book for Adults Caring for Children Who Have Experienced Trauma" provides a tool kit for adults in these situations. Soon, the author and illustrator, mother and daughter team Sue and Chelsea Badeau will be releasing two more versions of this popular tool, one for very young children (ages 2-6) and one for school-age children (ages 6 - 12) so they, too, will have their own tool kit of calming activities at their fingertips."

In 2006 I began after six years of being married, trying to have a baby. I was not successful and began to seek treatment via a fertility specialist... My first miscarriage came in 2007, and then another one in 2008... .. I kept trying, the heart of me cried out to be a mom, not because it is what you are supposed to do (the white picket fence dream), but because it was my heart. I had so much love and laughter to give. I became pregnant in latter part of 2008 and quickly settled into watching “TLC, A Baby Story,” eagerly planning the future of my son. Dreams of all the milestones filled my heart.

At 32 weeks I was rushed to hospital, and via C-Section gave birth to a baby boy weighing 3lbs and ten ounces (17 inches long) ….
Quickly I realized it was not the TLC dream ending I had planned on. I was wheeled into recovery and my husband came to meet me in the room with a Doctor in tow. She came to my bed, and put her elbows on corner of the bed, and said, “Congratulations Mrs. Casey you have a baby boy and he has Down Syndrome! “Any questions?” my eyes were wide as ever, and I just shook my head as if to say no; my mouth refused to allow any words to come out. He was born with holes in heart and partial deaf. He spent his first six weeks of his life in the NICU.

2:22pm on June 17, 2009, God gave me the most beautiful joyous gift. His name is Fisher named after Simon Peter in the bible so he could be a Fisher of men, and it also fits because my husband is an avid angler.
My journey changed forever; so about me; my name is Crystal Anne and I am a proud mom of a child with Down Syndrome. I have never fought harder, cried bigger and laughed deeper…

He had open heart surgery at ten months old. He still has a few holes left but is doing amazing. He was healed of his deafness after three years of wearing hearing aids, today he has complete hearing. He is very happy and full of life. He is very high functioning and has proven to break most of every stereotype associated with Down Syndrome children. I am so proud to introduce him to the world via my character inspired by him known as Huggy Dougie.
I have written since I was a small girl. At the age of ten I would check out books at the library 50,000 pages long about the monarchy of Kings and Queens. I just love to read and write.

As I have walked along this DS path, creative inspiration has birthed the ideas to write about the adventures of Huggy Dougie. I pray these stories inspire you, and show you a glimpse of the highs and lows of our journey. I am so happy to have the opportunity to share Fisher’s love and passion for life. Thank you for allowing me the opportunity to share a piece of myself and my life with you.

Crystal Anne is a children's book author that is just beginning her adventure with Helping Hands Press, and her storybook persona, Huggy Dougie, based on her son’s journey through life with Down syndrome. Huggy Dougie’s adventures are the result of Crystal Anne’s adaptations of her son’s life as seen through both of their eyes. The author hopes that these adventures will provide entertainment and learning opportunities for both parents and children. Her hope is to inspire a passion for reading and creativity.
Being a parent of a special needs son is the greatest honor I have every experienced. Every day is full of surprises. Through my relationship with my son, I have learned so much about life and what it is that makes us who we are later in life. The wonder and innocence I find in my son's world is the inspiration for Dougie's adventures. Dougie is a loving boy, full of emotion and always seeking friendship. Thank you for taking the time to live in my world and help us introduce Dougie to your family!

As messed up as Ty was, Grayden figured he could handle the heavily armed operatives moving up the dirt track. At least for a few minutes. It probably wasn’t good business sense, but he had to be sure Keegan was okay. She and her family had come into harm’s way because of him. He wasn’t going to leave them to the wolves.

He was not even halfway to the house before a crackle of gunfire from behind told him his brother was engaged. He kept running, straightening up to get a longer stride. The ground began to shake under his feet and he expected to hear an RPG blast go off in front or in back of him.

Instead he saw cattle horns glittering in the light of the burning Suburban. Dozens of them. Hundreds of them. Sweeping along the track towards him, hooves hammering the earth, eyes wild. He turned and ran back towards the flames.

“Get close to the wreck!” he yelled at his brother. “Never mind the shooters! Roll up to the flames!”

Ty stared at him. “Are you nuts? I’ll make a perfect target!”

Bullets ripped past Grayden as he dove for the fire. “You already are a perfect target!”

Ty saw the stampede the same time as a gunman did. The shooter froze, but Ty hurled himself so close to the flaming wreckage the heat singed his eyebrows and eyelashes. He didn’t care. He had seen a bullrider reduced to jelly under a Brahma’s hooves. A hundred head of Angus would do an even better job.

The steers roared past. Dirt and stone peppered Ty’s face. He squinted and watched them tear into the shooters. Gunfire brought down two or three or six or seven of the cattle. But they were a tsunami of horns and hooves and flesh and could not be stopped. Two women in black masks screamed as the herd crushed them. Another was standing and firing, hoping that would make the steers veer left and right of her, but a pair of horns drove deep into her stomach and chest and she fell. He saw a man get tossed in the air twice before he vanished.
“Where did they come from?” he shouted to his brother.

Grayden was curled in a ball six feet away. “I got a hunch it was the woman.”

“What? Your girlfriend?”

“Whatever she is. I saw cattle penned up way back of the farmhouse yesterday. This has to be them.” Grayden pulled his hat farther down over his face to block the heat. “She must have followed me to see what was up. Then gone back and opened the gate and freaked out the herd with those shotgun blasts. She’s crazy.”

“Sounds like my kind of crazy.”

“My kind too. A stampede is like a scene out of a John Wayne western.”

“Everything in our lives is like a scene out of a John Wayne western.”

“Are you guys just gonna curl up and die?”

Grayden looked up at Keegan. She was standing over him with her shotgun on her hip. The flames and shadows made her face look tribal. Her grin was actually scary.

“The steers are gone, Marshal, and so are the black hats.”

Grayden peeled himself away from the fire. “Much obliged, ma’am.”

“Don’t say that.”

“Don’t say what?”

“I’m 21. I told you that. A mature one, maybe, but still 21 so I’m not a ma’am.”

Grayden grinned. “I’ll try to remember.”

“Do that.”

Ty limped up to them. “I’m shot to pieces. A few more and I’d be a screen door. Thank ya.”

“Are you Grayden’s partner?” Keegan asked.

“It’s more like he’s mine.”

Grayden had his 45 up and aimed and was slowly walking in on the bodies smashed by the cattle. “Those steer’ll be scattered from here to Texas. Are you sure you wanted to do that, Keegan?”

She tossed her long hair. “If I wasn’t sure I wouldn’t have done it.”

“Kind of a crazy idea.”

“It didn’t look like you had any better ones, cowboy.”

Grayden holstered his HK. “Thirteen bodies. I guess a few could have lit out ahead of the herd.”

Keegan snorted. “I guess not. I was watching.” She turned away. “But I’m not interested in seeing their skulls and shinbones and guts. This is one hell of a weekend you brought to Alberta, Marshal Grayden.”
“Yeah. Consider it part of the rodeo.”

“Oh, it’s part of the rodeo, all right. Who needs Brahma bulls when New Mexico comes to town?” She narrowed her eyes as Grayden walked up and stood beside her. “I knew you were trouble.” Unknownnoreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7236474625704171371.post-61744775883137457052016-08-11T06:36:00.000-07:002016-08-11T06:36:54.610-07:00@gridirongranny5 Patti J. Behind our smiles are tears. We are the victims of depression. We are the ones who are fighting a war within ourselves – a war that consists of many battles on many fronts. Of those won, the losses always seem to eclipse the triumphs.

I graduated from high school in 1968, did not attend college, and went right into the work force. In 1971 I met a man named Rev. Bill Drury, founder of a Christian Youth Organization called Teen Haven. In November of that same year I moved from the peaceful, rolling hills of Lancaster, Pennsylvania into the heart of North Philadelphia to work with him.

I spent seven years as a Bible teacher, camp counselor, rec room supervisor and bus driver. My experiences during that time opened my eyes and heart to a world I never knew existed.

When I left Teen Haven and moved as a single woman into the Germantown section of Philly, I met a Black man named Peter. Through many, many long conversations I learned about the history of Blacks in America and before slavery.

Thirty-six years and two kids later, we are still talking and I have a deep desire to share what I have learned with the hopes of introducing my readers to a whole new world of hope and understanding.
